FRANK CHINEA INGUANZO
Frank Chinea is a Cuban-American artist based in Miami, recognised for his late neo-romantic approach to painting. Drawing on the apocalyptic spirit of the 21st century, his work is a visceral exploration of the inner self, where dark, stormy landscapes serve as the backdrop for figures that emerge from the depths of his subconscious.
Influenced by the expressionistic traditions of William Blake and Arnold Böcklin, Chinea creates haunting, ethereal compositions that feature heroic figures in surreal, abyssal situations. His signature use of thick impasto and contorted brushstrokes conveys both tension and emotion, bringing his dramatic, subconscious visions to life.
Chinea’s work presents an otherworldly universe, where angels and demons exist in a fragile balance between life and death. His paintings invite the viewer into a dreamlike, indecipherable realm, reflecting his deep engagement with the psyche and the eternal conflict between light and dark.
