Great collections don’t begin with Wealth.

 By Theresa Rézeau

Great collections don’t begin with wealth.
They begin with vision.

Jorge M. Pérez didn’t start with blue-chip names. He started with passion, collecting Latin American works from small galleries and emerging artists. His secret was focus: rather than collecting widely, he collected with depth, building a story ,a legacy, within a niche.

As his eye matured, so did his access. Private viewings. Off-market acquisitions. Direct relationships with artists. His collection quietly grew to over $5M in value. But his greatest impact? A $40M contribution in art and capital that gave rise to the Pérez Art Museum Miami, turning one man’s vision into a cultural institution.
